It's great to see our tools put to such good use. We are planning for a media demonstration next Friday after tomorrow's calibration and practice. Tomorrow we will be having young Alex try it on for the first time. Today we reached full functionality of the V1. With Albert's permission, I thought I would share it with you. We have come a long way! I know all students want to complete their projects, but I am particularly happy I responded to that email. Stratasys sponsored us with print material, and the design to print in Inventor is really great. We are trying to modify someone else's original design on Thingiverse that is available for download. Could you provide me a little more information about the options available? Though I get several messages a day, I try to respond as quickly as I can. In the case of students, they have access to our free software, such as Inventor, but not our Subscription benefits. This add-on is available to Autodesk Subscription customers only. How do you import and convert STL mesh data into Inventor? Export to qatar from indiaĬomments deleted.Ever since I posted a note in the Inventor discussion forum and published " Student Access to Mesh Enabler for Inventor " on my blogI get emails from students requesting a copy of the Mesh Enabler for Autodesk Inventor. Id love to hear from other Inventor users who maybe would be willing to share their experiences in converting STL's. The level of success is limited Often if its a simple part and refuses to convert to a solid i use the composite imported mesh or group of faces as a template to model a new part from scratch.ĭepending on the part complexity this can be time consuming but at least you have complete control. Taking straight into inventor isnt possible although i believe there is a plugin called mesh enabler or similar. Gw2 ranger gearįirst thing i do is run them thru netfabb, some of the STLs you find online are not the best quality to say the least. I don't wont directly import the files what will be the best. But i wonder how other people edit her files like bigfilsing. Once you download it, open the stl into inventor and on the toolbar where all the actions appear extrusions, sketches, etc Thank you Phil for the referal. After some googling, the left plane is the data panel which opens up the projects and the samples.ĭouble click on any of the projects and you should be able to see the upload button. I also tried to use the new design from file but it still doesn't work. I just downloaded and installed fusion and Im having trouble trying to import the stl file in. Use it as your design program instead of Inventor with a full or student license, or use it with a student license and just as a convertor for STL files, it's up to you. If you are used to Inventor, Fusion feels very logical and has a quick learning curve. Fusion is an evolution on Inventor, and can import and work with STL files directly. Please take a look at Fusion and the A online control panel. The best way I found is to use "Mesh to solid" program, convert the file to 3Dm, and import it to inventor, no hassle, file ready to edit. Then export to a sat file and import to Inventor. On new version, I see now this is build in, and works better to some extend as in it recognizes the flat surfaces, meaning you can pick up eges etc. I found it so annoying I don t bother changeing models anymore. This tools gives you a model to work with, but it's all triangulated and you can t pick up edges etc. Do you now how to import or convert it for Inventor? Meanwhile, on my old InventorI had to download a plug-in called "Mesh Analyzer for inventor". Some times I need to edit some stl files to do a nice print.

Some demons are patrolling certain areas and you can just make contact with them to enter a battle. While almost every other human is essentially dead in the ruined Tokyo, the demons populating the city make it feel alive. There’s so much to find and explore it’s just so incredibly thrilling. This type of exploration actually reminded me of something like The Last of Us when you walk through an abandoned parking garage or jump through a window and find a treasure or collectible. You can hop onto bridges, climb rocks, and scale toppled architecture. The verticality of these zones are seriously impressive. The different zones are just big enough to provide you with a sense of wonder and excitement, but not too big that you’re overwhelmed. However, the biggest difference between this game and something like Assassin’s Creed, is that it’s actually really fun to explore here. It reminds me of a Ubisoft game, given how many different icons there are on the map. The exploration is incredibly similar to a game like Xenoblade Chronicles where you can traverse anywhere within the different zones.Īround every corner there are demons to fight, treasures to pick up, and collectibles to find. Once the game gets going in full force, the entire presentation of it shifts to open world exploration with fully realized 3D models, ruined buildings, and gorgeous landscapes. Thankfully, this is only in modern-day Tokyo. Basically, the protagonist is presented as an icon and you just move them around the map. This is something that Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne did, and the overworld map of Tokyo is quite similar to the one used in that game too. The game starts off in familiar territory as the protagonist goes to school, only to have the entire city of Tokyo completely decimated shortly after. It’s absolutely one of the best JRPGs released this year, if not one of the best titles in general. It builds upon the foundation of what the previous games in the series had, but adds modern conveniences as well. With its exhilarating landscapes, challenging fights, gorgeous art direction, and stellar music, Shin Megami Tensei V is a sight to behold. We now have Shin Megami Tensei V for Nintendo Switch. While the latter two were fine games in their own right, I longed to see what the series would look like on more powerful hardware and updated character models. After Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne launched in 2003, the series transitioned to a more 2D style that fit the Nintendo 3DS handheld with Shin Megami Tensei IV and IV: Apocalypse in 20, respectively. It’s been a while since a new mainline Shin Megami Tensei game came out, and a 3D one at that. Their bodies and clothes are made of raw, unfinished materials like twigs, clay, bone and shells.ĭeveloping the story was also, of course, incredibly important. We had to find the most powerful way to communicate the central theme of the sequence: faith vs survival and adaptation. We wanted it to feel very tangible and real, like a stop motion film that could have been made by these ancient people, using whatever materials and tools they would have had access to. On the visual design and concepting side of things, the big challenge was nailing down the unique style and feel of the film. Odin is clearly out to spill the blood of gods, and one way or another, he’s going to get it.The film is bar-none the most technically and creatively challenging project we have ever done. The peace offer is rejected Technical Boy’s teeth are an offering to the old god, but not one that will sway him in the slightest. As he so cleverly puts it, they’re trying to turn an irritant into a pearl, and the pearl isn’t having it for one bit. They might offer Wednesday his own kingdom, but he sees it for what it truly is-exile. World is clearly the one pulling all the strings his cartoon video offering Odin immortality in the form of a satellite missile attack on North Korea, turning it into the new Valhalla, is the perfect pitch by someone who doesn’t really know his audience, but is trying to.Īs Wednesday says, the old gods had something to offer their worshippers, the new gods simply fill their time. With her mix of catchphrases and the way she floats into the room on a cushion of air before casually revealing that the FBI had her murdered, she’s playing the ditzy-but-clever victim/sex goddess that the world has turned Marilyn Monroe into. Gillian Anderson is the perfect person to take on the role of Media her David Bowie is brilliant to behold, and her Marilyn Monroe is pitch-perfect because she’s not playing Marilyn Monroe. Ricky Whittle and Bruce Langley hold their own with Ian McShane, Crispin Glover, and Gillian Anderson, all of whom are tremendous performers. I can’t say enough good things about the five actors involved in this scene. He’s genial, he’s kind, he’s gracious and respectful to Wednesday, but when he gets angry, his outburst is all the more powerful because it’s not so much directed at his opponent, but at Technical Boy for sulking and pouting and not offering a genuine enough apology to Wednesday and Shadow. Crispin Glover makes everything more interesting, and when he shows up in a crisp black suit with the floor lighting up beneath his feet like Michael Jackson’s classic “Billie Jean” music video, he immediately takes command of the scene. He’s the most fascinating character in the promotional material, and that’s before I was even aware of the character he was playing. I’ve been waiting for Crispin Glover to show up on American Gods. Buffer very far, either, because it’s not long before a tree tries to attack Shadow, the lights go down, and in comes the New Gods. Turning to Shadow for help won’t get Det. Wednesday lays out the entire plot, word for word, and ropes in Shadow, Media, Mad Sweeney, Czernobog, and everyone else he can bring in, because it’s a rare instance where telling the truth only further serves to render him impossible to figure out. Wednesday has a unique ability to know when to lie and when to tell the truth he tries to be a doddering old man with Detective Buffer (Tracie Thoms) only to give up and tell the complete truth in an exposition dump that’s staggering to hear. After Shadow and Wednesday are arrested, Laura goes on to have a violent confrontation with Mad Sweeney, which features my second-favorite insulting nickname for Laura, “Dead Wife,” and a fight scene as good as the original introduction of Mad Sweeney and as funny as Laura’s destruction of Technical Boy’s faceless and nameless droogs.Īnd last but not least, there’s the interrogation room. The confrontation between Laura and Shadow is surprisingly touching he’s less concerned that she’s back from the dead and more concerned about her infidelity with his best friend. It’s easier to do good work when you have good partners to work with, and in that sense Natali is given a wonderful script from David Graziano. He’s given one of the better scripts of the series too, this week, and he makes the most possible of it. For all the faults of his films, Cube and Splice have some amazing visuals, and his work with Bryan Fuller on Hannibal is some of the strongest chapters in the entire series. His background in animation is readily apparent, and his ability to merge digital effects with live-action footage is second-to-none. It was harrowing, touching, and incredible to look at. He turned the scene of the tribes crossing into North America and turned it from mere CGI into something beautiful. Director Vincenzo Natali pulled off something incredible this week. Doll House for instance removes the roof and allows you see inside each room and corridor. You have access to various 2D and 3D views, including this interesting ‘glass house’ effect (Image credit: Chief Architect)īut you can also see everything from a 3D perspective, and you’re not limited to just one view. The interface is clever enough to notice when you add another wall, and if you click close enough to an existing one, it will assume the new wall starts from there, and won’t leave you with frustrating little gaps that would be a pain to fix later on. As you drag them you’ll immediately start seeing how long it will be (you get to choose your preferred measuring system: antiquated feet and inches, or the more modern and precise metric system). Perhaps the most obvious start is adding walls. It might look a little intimidating at first, but you get the gist of it very quickly. The largest part of the interface is dedicated to your design, with all the tools you need crammed in a sidebar to the left, rows of icons at the top, and a library on the right. For the sake of this review, we’ve taken a look at the Suite package on a Mac. If you’re not sure which one to choose, Chief Architect offers you a trial version which you can check out and decide which features suit you best. There are also upgrade prices for those who already own a previous version. Further, if you’ve paid for 12 consecutive months, you can own the software outright (sort of a rent to buy option). Finally, Pro costs a hefty $595 (or $495 with the current price reduction), and you also have the option of renting that software for $59 a month. Architectural would set you back $249 (or $199 if the current offer is still valid by the time you read this). You can get it for $129, although it is currently on offer at $99. Don’t be put off though: Suite is still incredibly capable, and most likely would suit most people’s needs. From smartphones to smartwatches and all the devices in between, we live in a world of being constantly connected. This really gives the Japanese civilization the opportunity to engage in some truly relentless advances. The Japanese Daimyo (available as a home shipment unit) is a powerful warlord that acts both as a walking barracks and a drop off point for all future military shipments from the home city. Even though nearly all the units are useful in one capacity or another, there are nevertheless a few that really captured our attention. As with the other Age games, creating small groups of balanced forces that can deal equally well with infantry, cavalry and artillery keeps you from having to micromanage the target priorities in each and every encounter. Big Huge Games has really captured the flavor of the combat very nicely with a wide range of colorful units that provide significant enough advantages to encourage players to create a well-rounded army. The Asian armies have all the cool units you'd expect, from samurai, to firework rockets, to howdahs. With the Chinese Treasure Fleet and the British East India Company featuring so heavily in the campaign, it was a bit of a letdown that there wasn't more opportunity for sea fights. We built two single docks in the course of the entire 15-mission campaign and once it was just to get to the enemy land base across the water. Most missions do allow players some choice in determining the order in which they take on secondary objectives but in all the campaigns here felt a bit more linear than they have in previous Age games.Īnd for the life of us, we can't figure out why there wasn't more of an emphasis on sea battles. There will sometimes be an option as to which of two paths you're going to take into the enemy base, but there's usually a "right" and a "wrong" answer even here. Sadly, only a handful of scenarios really present the player with any wide range of approaches. The best missions move back and forth between different objectives giving the player a chance to choose how they'll tackle the overall scenario. Naturally, a lot of the missions require players to capture and hold trading posts, destroy enemy town centers, and protect your own structures from enemy attack. I miss some of the cool resource-oriented missions of the previous games, but Asian Dynasties has its own charms - from finding and securing beached treasure ships to stampeding elephants through enemy towns. Finally, the Indian campaign puts players in charge of a British officer who decides to lend his support to the cause of Indian independence. From there, we see a mutiny in the Chinese navy as the Treasure Fleet moves first to India and then to the New World. The Japanese campaign kicks things off by retelling some key events in Tokugawa's efforts to unite Japan. Still, the fictional main characters in the campaigns give the designers room to tell a relatively unique story set within a firm historical framework. Still, while the new Asian civs are enjoyable, the campaign lacks some of the drama and variety that we'd hoped to see.Īsian Dynasties steps away a bit from the more fictional campaigns of previous games in the series in favor of a slightly more historical approach. It's not surprising that the expansion maintains the excellent unit balance and exciting presentation that the series is known for. The new game adds three new Asian civilizations, each with new units and buildings and their own five-mission campaign. We'll never turn down a chance to play more Age of Empires, so when Microsoft, Ensemble and Big Huge Games announced a brand new expansion pack for Age of Empires III, we were all for it.
